SNAPSHOT · OCT 2026

Currents, OCT 2026

September and October did not get a snapshot, so this one covers both, and the honest summary is that they were the busiest two months the lab has had.

PuttX and Zoomies shipped. PuttX is hard 3D mini golf with every par proven by a solver, Zoomies is a build-a-car driving game for ages three to five, and both are a single HTML file that works offline. felt. is built on PuttX's deterministic physics, and Brink is the first one that is not about a ball. The browser ones are all on the new /play page.

The homelab got its reckoning. The Proxmox node had been locking up every five to eight days for a year and a half, and the cause was failing memory. The reason it took that long is the more useful part: the mail service had been masked the entire time, and 157 alerts were sitting in the queue. The postmortem is up, along with the network and power underneath the box.

And the site got rebuilt around who actually reads it. The day job is on /work now: agentic products for Workday, ServiceNow and Jira at Kainos, described at the level of what they do and what my part was. The lab lost a project to the graveyard (gbrain, because the market built it better), lost two to /work, and gained three from the homelab. The design system was rewritten too. It is still a spec sheet, just one that has stopped shouting.

FOCUS

  • rebuild zckr.dev so every project, the homelab and the day job are on it
  • agent-first products at work: UI, API, CLI and MCP all driving the same thing
  • sort real jobs into generative model, decision model, or no model at all

BUILDING

  • felt.: eight cue games, CPU personalities, a multi-season career felt.
  • Brink: four nations plan in secret, one deterministic engine resolves the turn brink
  • the lossless library's filing side, starting with the artist list lossless library
  • open-weight models: Qwen and Gemma local, Kimi hosted, Laya for the judgment calls open-weight models

OBSESSING OVER

  • decision models: an answer and a probability in one forward pass
  • defaults are decisions somebody else made for a different machine
  • T3 Code as one front door for several model subscriptions
